Tu B'Shevat

Tu B’shevat is also known as the New Year of the Trees or Jewish Arbor Day. It is believed that this holiday was originally an agricultural festival that marked the beginning of spring. Today we celebrate the holiday by planting trees in honor of loved ones. Some also hold a Tu B’shevat Seder, similar to a Passover Seder. Trees are a very important and sacred symbol in Judaism. The Torah is often referred to as a Tree of Life, and in many synagogues, you will see the tree portrayed in artwork or on the bimah.
