High Holy Days

JOIN US ONLINE FOR THE HIGH HOLY DAYS!
The High Holy Days at Temple Israel are a celebration of community and an opportunity for spiritual transformation for nearly 3,000 members and guests who join us for services. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the decision to move services online only. Though we will greatly miss having everyone together in our building, we've put together services and programs that will be memorable and meaningful.

This year, even though we can't physically be together, let's celebrate the High Holy Days online with Kavanah, the Hebrew word for direction and intention.
Shanah Tovah!

PREPARE FOR THE HIGH HOLY DAYS AT HOME

ASK BIG QUESTIONS: Ask yourself or your friends and family these "Big Questions" at the Rosh Hashanah holiday dinner table or during your Yom Kippur fast (in person or virtually!).
Download our Big Questions Guide here.

DO TASHLICH: Tashlich is a ritual experience of symbolically casting our sins off by the water’s edge. Find out more about how to do Tashlich and where you can do it locally in our Tashlich Guide.
Download our Tashlich Guide here.

ENJOY MEDITATION: Meditation is a way to connect with your higher self and the world around you, especially when you're reflecting during the Days of Awe. Rabbi Susan Freeman's meditation sequence is a nice way to recenter and refocus for the year to come.

2020 ANNUAL HIGH HOLY DAYS GIVING OPPORTUNITY

This year, our congregants need us more than ever; and more than ever, we need you, too. Since our building closed almost 6 months ago, the income we rely on to provide classes and programs, Shabbat and High Holy Days worship, Rabbinical services and community support has greatly dwindled. Your contribution to this High Holy Days giving opportunity will allow us to live our beliefs and values year-round and serve this amazing Temple community no matter where we are and what the challenge. Let’s tackle this together!

PERSONAL CARE ITEM DRIVE

Join us in repairing the world, one tube of toothpaste at a time by donating items or dollars to our Annual High Holy Days personal care item drive.

Click here for more information on this year's High Holy Days Personal Care Item Drive.

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE

Each year, we invite our congregants to submit the names of their departed loved ones for inclusion in our annual Book of Remembrance, typically viewed at Yizkor (Memorial) services on Yom Kippur afternoon. The book will be available online and for contactless pick up to all who would like a copy.
