This year, Saturday Morning Bible Study will be divided into two parts.
Part I: A Jewish Understanding of the New Testament (continued)
October 4 - December 27, 2025
First semester will conclude our discussion on a Jewish understanding of the New Testament with a detailed look at one of the most fascinating and controversial of all the books in the New Testament, The Book of Revelations (The Revelation to John). In a stunning bit of irony, the New Testament is often the best historical source for information on Jewish life in the years leading up to the Judean Revolt against Rome in the year 70. The Book of Revelations is based upon a Jewish Biblical literary tradition known as an apocalypse. The Book of Daniel is one such text.
Class Text: The Jewish Annotated New Testament, edited by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Zvi Brettler, and published by Oxford University Press. This resource will be made available to students participating in the class.
Part II: A Jewish Understanding of the Qur’an
January 3 - April 25, 2026
During the second semester, we'll continue our TI tradition of engaging in the literary and sacred texts of religious communities not our own. Our text for this study will be The Qur'an, A New English Annotated Translation.
Pre-registration is required for all who wish to attend at: www.ti-stl.org/BibleStudy.
