MASK-OPTIONAL POLICY

Dear Temple Israel families and friends,

TI's COVID-19 Reemergence Task Force — co-chaired by our medical advisors Dr. David Weinstein and Dr. Burt Bromberg — recently reviewed the current COVID data and discussed the Temple and Education Center campus becoming a mask-optional environment. They decided that our campus-wide mask-optional policy will take effect on Monday, April 4, a week following the end of spring break. Our Temple and school staff, teachers, students and families, members of our congregation and guests, will no longer be mandated to wear a mask after that date, either inside or outside of our building.

Mask-optional policies have become the community standard in most Missouri public schools and businesses beginning in early February, and COVID cases in St. Louis County continue to remain low. TI’s Task Force will meet regularly and monitor community standards as well as rates of infection. Our mask-optional policy will remain in effect unless there is a need to reevaluate and modify based on revised guidance or changes in community infection rates.

Temple Israel will continue to make decisions through the lens of our shared Jewish values so that our policies benefit our community first and keep us as safe as possible as we evolve to meet the moment. Please know whether you choose to mask or choose to not, we support your decision and will work to ensure that you feel as comfortable and as safe as possible on our campus.

We thank you for your patience and understanding through this process.

If you have questions about the mask-optional policy, please do not hesitate to reach out to Rachel Wallis Andreasson, Executive Director, at randreasson@ti-stl.org  or 314-548-9743.
