Shanah Tovah!
The High Holy Days at Temple Israel are a celebration of community and an opportunity for spiritual transformation for thousands of Temple members and guests who join us in person and online. From September through October, we have events and programs for adults, children, and families to celebrate, reflect, and remember as we bring in the new year together.
Registration is required for all in-person worship services and most holiday programs. If you don't see what you're looking for, keep scrolling down!

We welcome TI members and guests to join us in person or online.
In person ticketing process
Registration is required for all in-person services using this RSVP form or by phone at 314-432-8050. Once you RSVP for services, you'll receive an email with a digital copy of your ticket to attend. Please bring a printout or digital copy to show our ushers once you arrive for services.
Livestreamed online
Registration is not required to attend livestreamed services.

Parking at worship services & programs
Guests may park in any of Temple Israel's lots and designated spaces. No parking along the Brodsky Circle (at Ladue Rd.) or Kopolow Drive (Education Center entrance). Please follow signage upon arrival.
Hearing devices
Assistive hearing devices are available for use at all services on a first-come, first-served basis. The devices may be signed out at our usher station upon entering the Kriegshaber Foyer. Please return them after each service. If you need assistance, our ushers are here to help!
Temple Israel's original bimah
Our original bimah, built in 1962, features a symbols of the Jewish faith, and is the work of well-known St. Louis artist, Rodney M. Winfield. No longer on display for weekly Shabbat worship, it can only be enjoyed annually during the High Holy Days. Learn more about this special artwork here.

ChilD Care
We are excited to offer complimentary* child care for families with children ages 6 months through grade 2 during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur evening and morning worship services. Child care will be located in the Deutsch Family Education Center and provided by professional babysitters.
*In fairness to all who request child care, a $36 fee will be assessed to "no shows" if cancelation is not received at least 48 hours prior to services.
Children in grades 3 and above are encouraged to attend holiday services with their families.

Child care drop off and pick up
No parking will be permitted in front of the Education Center.
Drop off begins 30 minutes prior to services and children must be picked up immediately following services.
Please walk through the Temple building to the Education Center for child care drop off and pick up. If your family is not attending the Rosh Hashanah Lunch, please pick up your children in the Education Center and exit the building through the school entrance to walk to your vehicles in the main Temple lot.
High Holy Days Musicians
Rob Aronson, High Holy Days Music Coordinator
Rob Aronson is a lifelong TI member who has been bringing his musical talents to the congregation since 2006. Throughout the year, Rob frequently leads the Congregation in song for Shabbat and holiday services. In addition to selecting and orchestrating music for the High Holy Days, Rob works with lay and professional musicians to create a meaningful and uplifting musical experience. Through involvement in annual songleading workshops, Song Leader Boot Camp (SLBC), and Hava Nashira (where he met his wife and singing partner, Julie), Rob has developed his talents for composition and songleading, which have brought him national recognition.
The Ruach Band
The Ruach Band is comprised of guitarist/vocalist Rob Aronson, vocalist Julie Aronson, cellist/bassist Jordan
Mandel, and pianist/percussionist Chris Rowton. Ruach means "spirit," and they bring spirited, current music to inspire others to life their own voices and sing along. Rob, Julie, and Jordan are all active Temple Israel members, and together with Chris, they have been leading joyous musical services, both on monthly Shabbats and on the High Holy Days since 2013. The Ruach Band will accompany the Rabbis at morning services.
Daniel Vizer, Pianist
Dan Vizer holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance from SIUE, where he studied with the concert pianist Ruth Slenczynska. He studied organ with Donald MacDonald and WIlliam Partridge. He has appeared on television and radio programs, has given many solo and ensemble performances, and is a recipient of the Ruth Slenczynska Piano Award for Chamber Music. We are honored to have him join us again this year to accompany musicians during High Holy Days services.
Megan "Miss Megan" Sturdevant
Miss Megan has served as Music Teacher at Temple Israel's Deutsch Early Childhood Center since 2011 and is a beloved song leader and performer in our Temple community. She also leads our Tot Shabbats and shares musical content online on TI's social media for all kids and their families to enjoy. This year, Miss Megan will help lead our tot services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur morning.

Holiday gifts for young adults living outside St. Louis
There's nothing like feeling close to home, especially when living far away from family during the holidays. If you have a child who has moved out of town for college or an exciting first job, the Rabbis would love to send them a gift on behalf of Temple Israel to make them feel extra loved this Rosh Hashanah.

Book of Remembrance
It is a time-honored Jewish tradition to remember those we have loved. Our annual Book of Remembrance will be available online and for pick up at the May Chapel entrance beginning Monday, October 3 through Yom Kippur afternoon.

Personal Care Item Drive
For the past 23 years, Temple Israel has been collecting and donating personal care items to the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry throughout the High Holy Days season to provide thousands of people with these essentials, which are not covered under the SNAP (food stamps) program. It's a TI tradition to do this mitzvah together as a community.
