For the 4th year in a row, Temple Israel's Mitzvah Market will help those in need. This year, the Market will benefit the students of Monroe Elementary School in St. Louis.
Each year, the Mitzvah Market gathers hundreds of clothing item donations to create a shopping experience for those in need who attend our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Unfortunately, hosting the market is just not an option during COVID. Instead, this year’s Mitzvah Market will benefit the students who attend Monroe Elementary School located in South St. Louis. Monroe has 250+ students ranging from ages 3-12; all of whom are living in poverty, and nearly half of whom experience home insecurity.
What are the needs of the school and students?
The Mitzvah Market is raising money to purchase the following items: $15 Walmart gift cards for parents/caregivers to use to purchase holiday gifts for their children, sanitizing supplies for Monroe’s staff to use to disinfect the school building on an ongoing basis, and snacks for students to enjoy during breaks to remain attentive and engaged.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover holiday gift cards, cleaning supplies, and snacks.
Please consider a contribution below to make the school year and the holidays brighter for the students of Monroe! Collecting now through November 15.
Thank you to our Mitzvah Market Co-Chairs, Jodi Schneiderman and Stacie Weinstein, and to our Monroe Elementary Co-Chairs, Susan K. Goldberg and Liz Buchman, for organizing this amazing mitzvah!
