Book of Remembrance

Throughout the world, Jews traditionally take time to remember their departed loved ones during the High Holy Days. At Congregation Temple Israel, we embrace this tradition by preparing an annual Book of Remembrance. Each year, we invite our congregants to submit the names of their departed loved ones for inclusion in our annual Book of Remembrance.  It is customary to honor their memories with tzedakah (a charitable donation), which is traditionally given in a multiple of $18, which is symbolic of chai (life).

If you would like to include the names of your departed loved ones in the 2020 Book of Remembrance, simply complete the secure form below.

Submissions/payment must be received by Friday, August 21, 2020 to ensure its inclusion. If you have general questions about our Book of Remembrance, contact Martina Stern at or 314-432-8050.

: 2020 Yom Kippur Yizkor services will be virtual only. Booklets will be available to the congregation in three ways.

  1. Digital PDF - This PDF will be available here on this webpage the week leading up to Yom Kippur services.
  2. Contactless pick up at the May Chapel entrance vestibule at your convenience beginning on Wednesday, September 23 through Yom Kippur afternoon.
  3. By mail (only for Temple members who are home bound)
