Youth Groups & Scouting

Temple Israel's youth groups are award winning, dynamic groups of young leaders who are a vital part of our congregation and the wider world.  To secure and perpetuate a strong, meaningful and enjoyable Reform Jewish experience for our young members, TI proudly sponsors youth groups for students beginning in the fifth grade.

TIFTY (Temple Israel Federation of Temple Youth Grades 9-12)

To join TIFTY, contact Advisor Stephanie Rhea, srhea@ti-stl.org or 314-432-8050.

TIFTY is Congregation Temple Israel's senior high youth group. TIFTY creates young leaders through active engagement in congregational life.  TIFTY members create dynamic programs and develop lifelong friendships and a love for Judaism. TIFTY's many social action, spiritual, and social events include raising money for Camp Rainbow (a summer camp for children with cancer), planning the TI Purim Carnival, leading TIFTY Shabbat, holding retreats, and much more. TIFTY is affiliated with the Missouri Valley Region of NFTY, the North American Federation of Temple Youth, and Netzer Olami, the international Reform Zionist youth movement.

TI8

Pronounced "Tight", this group was created just for 8th graders throughout the Reform Jewish community.  Each Reform temple in St. Louis takes a turn at hosting a J8M (Jewish Eighth grade Mixer) for all 8th grade TI8 members.  When it's our temple's turn to host, our 8th graders take charge of planning and organizing the event. This program meets about 4 times per year and is designed to promote leadership and  new connections to the Jewish community.

JYG (Junior Youth Group Grades 7-8)

JYG holds about six programs per year, ranging from Sunday afternoon socials to social actions, all within a Jewish environment. JYGers also have the opportunity to attend NFTY Missouri Valley's JYG Chavurah (conclave) with other teens from our region.

Club 56 (Grades 5-6)

Club 56 is designed to serve as an introduction to the youth group experience for our 5th and 6th grade students. Club 56 holds 4 to 6 activities a year, incorporating social action, religious, and social aspects.
