Congregation Temple Israel has partnered with Monroe Elementary School, located in South St. Louis. Monroe has 361 students ranging from age 3-12, all of whom are living in poverty, and nearly half are homeless.
Our goal is to support them in a number of ways to forge long-lasting relationships, and we need your help. We are, with our liaison from the St. Louis Public School District, starting to build an army of people who can share reassuring words and encouraging smiles, and who can sit with a child and remind them that they have potential, and that they are worthy of attention and care.
We are currently in most need of volunteers to mentor students on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings.
If you are interested in becoming involved in any way, as a mentor or even with a one-time event, please download and fill out the volunteer paperwork below and submit to our Temple Israel main office staff.
Downloadable Forms for Volunteers: (Please complete these forms and mail to Temple Israel, Attn: Rabbi Feder, #1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Dr., St. Louis, MO 63141)
