Mega Mitzvah Day

Join Us Sunday, May 5 - 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

From electronics recycling, to bone marrow and stem cell registry, to building a replica of the Western Wall out of boxes of cereal and cake mix, our 2nd annual Temple Israel Mega Mitzvah Day will have something for everyone.  All ages are encouraged to participate in this day of service on Sunday, May 5, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Temple Israel. 

 

Activities will take place both outdoors (weather permitting) and indoors. 

 

Back by popular demand – FOOD TRUCKS!  Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase throughout Mitzvah Day.

Electronics Recycling Drive sponsored by MERS Goodwill
Begins Early at 10:30 a.m.

We’re offering FREE recycling of any electronics with a plug, cord or battery.  Acceptable items include: computers and all accessories; networking and telecommunications equipment, including home and cell phones and clocks; VCRs, DVD players, and stereos; A/V equipment, including cable and satellite boxes; home electronics, and appliances. There’s no need to sort items.  A receipt for tax deductions will be issued on the spot.  Please Note: We cannot accept items with gasoline engines or motors. Donations of clothing and household items are also welcome!

Volunteers Needed:  We need volunteers ages 16 and older to assist with unloading cars and loading trucks. One-hour shifts available.

Health Equipment Drive by St. Louis HELP (Health Equipment Lending Program)
We'll be accepting donations of walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, shower seats, raised toilet seats and any other health equipment items.

 

Prescription and Over-the-Counter Drug Disposal

Bring your expired or unused prescription and over-the-counter medications to our Mega Mitzvah Day event and we’ll dispose of them in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner. We will also be collecting donations of eye glasses and hearing aids.

 

Food Drive to benefit the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry
All ages
Bring donations of boxed cereals, cake mixes, and canned frosting and help us build our own version of the Western Wall. Add your prayers and blessings to the wall.  They will be taken to actual Western Wall in Israel later in May!

Spring Cleaning Brigade

Bring your gardening gloves and tools and join us in sprucing up the Temple grounds.  Children and adults alike are welcome to get down and dirty as we engage in some good ol’fashioned spring cleaning.

Help us clean and detail Creve Coeur Police Dept. vehicles as we show our appreciation to our friends for all they do in service to Temple Israel and our community.

 

TIFTY iPad 2 Raffle for Camp Rainbow

Our TIFTY youth group will be raffling off an iPad 2 with all proceeds going to Camp Rainbow, a summer camp for seriously ill children. Tickets are just $10 each or 3 for $25.  You need not be present to win!
